“No Room At The Inn,” a display of over 350 nativities in various styles and from numerous countries, will be open to viewing Dec. 12 and 13 in the St. Mary Parish Activity Center/School Gym at 618 N. Derby in Derby. The event is a benefit for the Anthony Family Shelter in Wichita. The display will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.
New this year is a Children’s Corner where children will be able to touch and hold a selection of different children’s nativities and work on a special nativity craft to take home.
There is no admission charge, but free will donations will be accepted to benefit the homeless. In addition, there will be a raffle for several donated nativities
For more information, call Judy Pinaire at 788-4945 or email jkpinaire@cox.net. All proceeds will benefit the Anthony Family Shelter.
The event is sponsored by the St. Bernadette Guild of the St. Mary’s Altar Society of Derby-Rose Hill.
“Our first year we had 75 nativities and on free will donations alone, over $250 was raised for the homeless. Last year we had over 350 and raised almost $900,” said St. Bernadette Guild Chairperson Barb Pinaire.
“Again this year, we expect to display at least 350 nativities. Our dream is to grow into a show that will raise thousands of dollars for the homeless.”
