Chase Kear, who survived a severe head injury, is one of the persons interviewed in a Wichita Eagle video about Father Emil Kapaun.
The Wichita Eagle will print a series of articles about Fr. Emil Kapaun beginning Dec. 6. A video has also been produced by Eagle photographer Travis Heying with the assistance of Father John Hotze, who is overseeing the cause for sainthood for Chaplain Kapaun.
Fr. Kapaun is a priest of the Diocese of Wichita who was martyred in 1951 in a prisoner of war camp in North Korea. Heying and Fr. Hotze worked together for six months to produce the work. They traveled to 12 states, talked to POWs in many cities, and put together the story of the priest of the diocese who will possibly become the first person ever to win the Medal of Honor and be canonized as a saint.
