Walk for the Poor planned in Wichita, and Hutchinson
Walk for the Poor, a fundraiser for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be held in Wichita and Hutchinson.
In Wichita the walk will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School. Registration will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. The Wichita walk will be hosted by St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
In Hutchinson the walk will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 26, on the Holy Cross Parish grounds.

Life Chain Oct. 4 across Kansas, U.S.
The annual Life Chain will line the streets of cities across the Diocese of Wichita and the country from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.
This is the 22nd year for the pro-life witness. Chains will form in 65 cities in Kansas and 1,300 cities across the country.
In Wichita chains will form at Maize and 21st, Amidon and 21st, Central and Rock, and Pawnee and Seneca. For more locations and additional information go to lifechain.net.

Cancer support group meeting set for Oct. 8
WICHITA – The Take My Hand Cancer Support Group Meeting will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the library at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 645 N. 119th St. West.
The speaker for the evening will be oncologist Dr. Nassim H. Nabbout, who will speak about general cancers. Questions and answers will follow.
The meeting is for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, families, friends, and anyone interested.

Therapist joins Catholic Charities counseling services
Patricia A. Schoenhofer has joined Community Counseling Services, a program of Catholic Charities, as a therapist.
In addition to the main office, Schoenhofer is available for scheduled appointments in Newton at St. Mary Catholic Church. Newton and surrounding communities are invited to schedule appointments with Patricia at this location. Dear Neighbors Shamrock Open Oct. 5
WICHITA – The sixth annual Shamrock Open Charity Golf Tournament will be played Oct. 5 at Willowbend golf course.
The tournament is presented by EagleMed and benefits those served by Sisters of St. Joseph Dear Neighbor Ministries. The benefit was started by graduates of Cathedral High School who wanted to give back to the sisters who taught at the school for many years. The event has grown beyond just the alumni to include a variety of people who wish to help support the sisters.
The $150 registration fee covers, lunch, greens fees, golf cart, driving range, and the signature Steak Awards Dinner at Mount St. Mary’s convent following the event. For information or to register by phone contact Pat O’Donnell at (316) 689-4061.

Respect Life Office to host meetings throughout diocese for your input
The Respect Life and Social Justice Office, the bishop’s pro- life voice, extends a special invitation to the diocesan family to participate in a dialogue, “Where Do We Go from Here? The Challenge of Building a Culture of Life and Justice.
All of the gatherings are scheduled for Monday evenings from 6 to 7: 30 p.m.. Pizza will be served. Dates and locations appear below.
