Nathan Bainbridge is the son of Celesta Bainbridge of Wichita. He is a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Wichita. He recently graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bio Sciences with a Master of Arts degree in Bioethics. This year, Nathan enters Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, Saint Louis, Mo. as a 1st pre-theologian.

Devin Burns is the son of Pat and Jackie Burns of Wichita. He is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Wichita. He is a graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, Wichita. Last year Devin attended the University of Kansas where he was majoring in journalism. This year Devin enters Conception College Seminary, Conception, Mo. as a junior.

“Prayer is essential to discovering your vocation. Prayer is our telephone line to God. You cannot understand what He is calling you to, if you don’t communicate with Him.”



Jared Gerstenkorn is the son of Don and Donna Gerstenkorn, Augusta. He is a member of St. James Parish, Augusta. He is a graduate of Augusta High School. Last year Jared attended Kansas State University where he majored in civil engineering. This year Jared enters St. John Vianney College Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. as a sophomore.

“While the example of faith my parents gave to me was crucial in the development of my love for God, the actual prayers and sacrifice they offered for me is the largest factor in my discernment.”


Alex Gorges is the son of Felix and Kim Gorges, Aleppo. He is a member of St. Mary Parish, Aleppo. Alex is a graduate of Garden Plain High School. Last year he attended Fort Hays State University where he majored in technology studies. This year Alex enters Conception College Seminary, Conception, Mo. as a junior.

“I first heard God’s calling my freshman year in college. I can remember one time I took my Catechism off the bookshelf to look something up. As I was reading, this great joy overtook me as I imagined myself as a priest.”



Curtis Hecker is the son of Curtis and Paula Hecker of Winfield. He is a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Arkansas City. Curtis received his Associate of Liberal Arts degree from Cowley County Community College in May 2007. He entered St. John Vianney College Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. last spring. This year he continues his studies as a junior.

“Being out in the woods or in a small boat on some creek gave me the opportunity to see and experience God’s goodness first-hand. Whenever I was going through a difficult or stressful time, I would simply go look at God’s creation, and I would find relief and peace and feel completely refreshed.”



Tyler Hutchison is the son of Herbert and Susan Hutchison of Wichita. He is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Wichita. He is a recent graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, Wichita. This year Tyler enters St. John Vianney College Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. as a freshman.

“I think young men that are discerning their vocation need to know that you may not know now what God is calling you for but God will guide you in the right direction.”


Paul Leeker is the son of John “Pat” and Lisa Leeker of Colwich. He is a member of St. Mark’s Parish, St. Mark. He is a graduate of Andale High School. Last year Paul attended Wichita State University where he majored in History. This year Paul enters Conception College Seminary, Conception, Mo. as a junior.

“My father’s devotion to the Church brings happiness and peace to his life. It is this sense of peace that has fortified my desire to enter the seminary.”


Jorge López is the son of Jose de Jesus López and Maria del Carmen López. Jorge is from Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico. He is a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Wichita. He recently finished a language and culture program at Conception Seminary College, Conception, Mo. This year he returns as a freshman.

“I still have a long road to walk, but I am confident in my prayer with God. If He is calling me to the priesthood, He will give me the grace, the wisdom, and the strength to persevere in my vocation.”



Michael Maus is the son of Martin and Monica Maus of Viola. He is a member of St. John’s Parish, Clonmel. He is a graduate of Clearwater High School. Last year he worked for his family’s milk hauling business. This year Michael enters Conception College Seminary, Conception, Mo. as a sophomore.

“Mom and Dad always were about doing the right thing. At a young age they both taught me my religion which carried me for years. When I started getting older and having to make my own decisions, I would fall back on the moral foundation my parents imbedded in me.”



Grant Schneider is the son of Tim and Barbara Schneider of Hillsboro. He is a member of Holy Family Parish, Marion. He is a graduate of Hillsboro High School. Last year Grant attended Wichita State University where he majored in computer engineering. This year Grant enters Conception College Seminary, Conception, Mo. as a sophomore.

“I have seen that happiness comes truly from a sacrificing of self to do God’s work.”



Shawn Stockemer is the son of Scott and Debbie Stockemer of Wichita. He is a member of St. Jude Parish, Wichita. He is a recent graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School. This year Shawn enters St. John Vianney College Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. as a freshman.

“I truly believe that the discernment process begins in prayer and most importantly, prayer in front of the Holy Sacrament.”



Matt Voboril is the son of Bob and Pam Voboril of Wichita. He is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Wichita. He is a recent graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School. This year Matt enters St. John Vianney College Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. as a freshman.
